WAUBAY- William “Bill” Bisgard, 57 of Waubay died on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at his home near Waubay. His funeral will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 19, 2007 at the Waubay Gymnasium in Waubay, Rev. Michael Peterson officiating with burial in the Egeland Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Sunday, 4-8 P.M. with a prayer service at 7 P.M. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Monday. William Herbert Bisgard was born on May 18, 1949 in Webster, SD to Herbert and Rose (Baukol) Bisgard. He was baptized and confirmed at Egeland Lutheran Church near Waubay, SD. He attended Waubay High School and graduated in 1967. After high school he furthered his education at S.D.S.U. receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanized Agriculture. After college he returned to the family farm near Waubay. On February 3, 1990, he married Rosanne Taggart at Egeland Lutheran Church and the couple made their home on the family farm. Bill was very active in his community. His passion was spending time in the field. He was a strong supporter of conservation and wildlife programs. He was currently serving as President of the Church Council, Chairman of Day Co. Conservation District, member of Executive Board of S.D. Assoc. of Conservation Districts, and he was always a supervisor on the Egeland Township Board. His hobbies included, collecting and restoring old tractors, hunting, ice fishing, and bowling, in which he was part of a league since 1972. He was currently restoring his 1967 GTO, and was always an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He always made time for his family and friends, and especially enjoyed his grandchildren and strived to be the best “Papa” ever. Bill passed away at the age of 57 years, 9 months, and 4 days at his home near Waubay. He is survived by his wife Rosanne of Waubay, one son Chris (Kristin) Bisgard of Brookings, SD, three brothers: Don (Kathi) Bisgard of Great Falls, MT, Pete (Leah) Bisgard of Waubay, SD, and Curt (Betty) Bisgard of Yankton, SD, one granddaughter Ella Bisgard and one grandson Charlie Bisgard both of Brookings, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents.
