Wilbur "Willy" Selzler, 69, of Watertown, passed away, Monday, August 19, 2024, at Avantara, Watertown.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday, August 23, 2024, at the funeral home, Pastor Janet Miller will officiate.
Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery near Waubay at a later date.
Wilbur William Selzler was born on January 11, 1955, to Wilbur and Ann (Baumann) Selzler. He attended school in Aberdeen and graduated from Central High School in 1974 and furthered his education at Northern State University, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in science. Willy was a jack of all trades. He worked at Safeguard for over 20 years in Aberdeen, he also worked selling tools in Watertown, repossessed cars in Rapid City, and worked at the State Penitentiary in Nebraska. On May 20, 1994, he married Julaine Flones. The couple made their home in several places before settling in Watertown to be close to family. Willy enjoyed collecting guns and toy John Deere tractors. He also enjoyed classic cars, especially his baby blue Firebird! Willy was a jokester who loved to tease family and friends. Above all else, he loved time spent with his family. Each of them held a very special place in his heart, and his memory will live on forever in theirs! Willy will be forever loved and greatly missed by his wife of 30 years, Julaine (and dog, Molly) of Watertown, SD, stepson Chris (Amy) Sass of Bradley, SD, granddaughters, Olivia, Ella, and Alayna Sass. He is also survived by brothers, Markcus (Linda) Selzler of Aberdeen, SD and Paul (Nancy) Selzler of Yankton, SD, and aunt Peggy (Dave) Johnson of Eden, SD, as well as nieces nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Tracy Selzler.
