PIERPONT – Wallace “Wally” Loe, 99 of Webster and formerly of Pierpont, passed away Sunday August 7, 2016 at Bethesda Home in Webster.
Visitation with the body present for viewing, will be 5-7 P.M. Sunday August 14, 2016 at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster.
Burial will be in the Homer Cemetery near Pierpont, 9:30 A.M. Monday August 15, 2016. A memorial service will follow the burial at 11 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church Chapel in Webster.PIERPONT – Wallace “Wally” Loe, 99 of Webster and formerly of Pierpont, passed away Sunday August 7, 2016 at Bethesda Home in Webster.
Wallace “Wally” E. Loe was born on Monday, February 5, 1917 to Emil K. and Caroline (Nilson) Loe at Pierpont, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Pierpont. He attended school in Pierpont, graduating in 1935. After graduation he attended Dunwoody Industrial Institute in Minneapolis where he was a member of the Apollo Club (men’s chorus) being the beginning of his musical career. He sang at many weddings, funerals and other events across Day County. He was the fifth employee hired by Telex, Inc. in Minneapolis.
He was united in marriage to Doris Dwight on April 27, 1941 at Pierpont. In 1942 he entered the U. S. Army and was honorably discharged in1944. He went back to work at Telex, Inc. until 1948 when he moved back to Pierpont and began partnership at Martyn-Loe Motors. In 1951 he purchased the John Deere dealership in Pierpont. He owned and operated the business until 1972 when he started working in Real Estate sales at Larsen Realty. He retired in 1977. After their retirement the couple enjoyed traveling. Doris passed away in 2009. He entered Bethesda Home in Webster in April 2014.
He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Pierpont, Pierpont Fire Department, Pierpont Town Board member, and past Mayor of Pierpont. Wally enjoyed woodworking, fishing and visiting with family and friends.
Wally passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 99 years, 5 months and 2 days.
Survivors include one sister, Eileen Knorr of Madison, MN; a sister-in-law, Mildred Perrenoud; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, Kenneth, Howard and Loren, one sister, Helen Reesman, three sisters-in-law, Helen, Margaret and Josephine, and one brother-in-law, Ralph Reesman.
