Virginia Grosch, 78 of Roslyn and formerly of Webster died on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Strand-Kjorsvig Community Rest Home in Roslyn.
Her funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster, Rev. Daniel Ostercamp will officiate. Inurnment will be at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Thursday.
Virginia Belle Anderson was born on Sunday, October 15, 1933 to Bart and Leona (Nester) Anderson on the family farm near Wolbach, Nebraska. She attended country school near her home and graduated from Wolbach High School in 1950. She taught country school in the area before she married Ernest Bahr. To this union three children were born, James, Daniel and Connie.
On May 23, 1962 she was united in marriage to Francis Grosch at Grand Island, Nebraska. The couple lived in numerous places during their married life because of his work in construction. She worked wherever they lived as a waitress or as a caregiver. In 1984 they retired and lived in serveral towns in throughout the Midwest before moving to Webster in December 2006. Francis passed away in January 2007. She entered Strand-Kjorsvig Rest Home in Roslyn in November 2011.
She enjoyed playing cards, social games and activities, reading and music. She especially loved visiting with people.
Virginia passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Roslyn, South Dakota at the age of 78 years, 2 months and 3 days.
Survivors include one son, James (Dixie) Bahr of Sheridan, WY; one daughter, Connie (Chuck) Bacon of Webster, SD; three brothers, Arthur (June) Anderson, Donald (Mary) Anderson and Victor (Donna) Anderson all of Wolbach, NE; three sisters, Josephine Knapp of Grand Island, NE, Sandra Bittner of Albion, NE and Janet (Duane) Bittner of Wood River, NE; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Daniel and three infants.
