ROSLYN - Timothy Haaseth 57, of Roslyn, died on Saturday, October 17, 2009, at Strand-Kjorsvig Community Rest Home in Roslyn. His funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at the Roslyn School gym, Janet Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Roslyn Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service (fiksdalfuneral.com) in Webster on Tuesday 5-8 P.M. and prior to the services at the gym on Wednesday. Timothy Allen Haaseth was born on Saturday, November 3, 1951 at Webster, South Dakota to Vergil and Janie (Hook) Haaseth. He was baptized in Webster, and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Brookings. He attended elementary school through the eighth grade in Brookings. After he received his education he worked for the City of Brookings for three years. He spent many summers in the 1960’s on his Uncle Don’s and Aunt Gloria’s farm and moved to Roslyn in 1976. He lived with his aunt and uncle (Gloria and Don Haaseth) and worked for area farmers. In 1990 he became the janitor for the Roslyn school and continued in that capacity until he became ill. He entered the Strand-Kjorsvig Community Rest Home in Roslyn in June 2009. He was a member of Roslyn Lutheran Church. He enjoyed camping, the Black Hills, horseback riding, was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan, he liked walking his dog, and, being a very versatile person, he crocheted many afghans for his friends and relatives. He was a friend to everyone he met. Tim passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Roslyn, South Dakota at the age of 57 years, 11 months and 14 days. Survivors include his mother, Janie Haaseth of Brookings; his other “Mom”, Gloria Haaseth of Roslyn, SD; three brothers, Mickey (Laura) Haaseth of Roslyn, SD, Kevin Haaseth of Brookings, SD and Todd (Shaun) Haaseth of Brookings, SD; two sisters, Jeri Amundson of Brookings, SD and Penny (Steve) Boettcher of Watertown, SD; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Vergil, his uncle, Don Haaseth, his brother-in-law, Doug Amundson and his grandparents.
