Sylvia Rebecca Aadland was born August 5, 1958 to Justin “Buddy” and Marianne (Both) Aadland at Malmstrom Air Force Base near Great Falls, Montana. When Sylvia was just under a year old, her sister insisted that she was the kid at the end of the Cocoa Puff Train, and she was thereafter known as Koko. The family eventually relocated to Pierpont and later to Roslyn where Koko graduated from Roslyn High School in 1976.
Koko shared the last 20 plus years with her life mate Don “Tuna” Larson. She enjoyed interacting with people of all ages, but especially very young and very old. She was a kind and giving person. She loved gardening and for a few years had a competition with mom about who produced the first ripe tomato. They would give updates over the phone throughout the stages of growth, and she was very proud of the fact that one year she won.
She also enjoyed motorcycles and for a while even had her own, but she mostly like to ride with her life mate to various rallies and runs and just to ride. Koko adored animals and adopted many rescues from the Human Society over the years.
Her closest friend Cathy says: “Koko worked many different jobs and was successful in each one. She was a very kind and helpful person who was always ready to lend a helping hand. She especially loved being around older folks and listening to their stories about their lives. Koko also had quite a green thumb and grew a garden every year. She did not do canning but gave away a lot of her produce to friends. She could not go past a rummage sale without stopping to see if there were treasures to be had! Above all she was a woman of great style, a great sense of humor and full of love for those around her. She was a person of quality that will be very missed.”
Koko will be greatly missed by her family, life mate, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, infant sister Judith, all grandparents, aunts and uncles, and several cousins in the US and Germany.
She is survived by her mother Marianne, sisters Diana Aadland and Susan “Suzi” and James “Bud” Burnham, her life mate Don “Tuna”, her closest friend Cathy Walker, and many cousins and friends.
