WEBSTER- Susie Kapphahn, 93 of Webster died on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Bethesda Home in Webster. Her funeral will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at American Lutheran Church in Webster, Rev. Jan FitzGibbon officiating. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service (fiksdalfuneral.com) on Tuesday 4-7 P.M. and prior to services on Wednesday. Susie Beatrice Berget was born on Monday, March 27, 1916 to Oscar and Alice (Sorenson) Berget on the family farm in Liberty Township, Day County, South Dakota West of Roslyn. She was baptized and confirmed at Fron Lutheran Church. She attended country school near her home. On December 9, 1935 she was united in marriage to Warner Kapphahn at the German Lutheran Church in Webster. After their marriage the couple made their home in Webster. She was employed at Bethesda Home in Webster until her retirement. Mr. Kapphahn passed away in December 1992. After his death she continued to live in Webster and entered Bethesda Home in January 2008. She was a member of American Lutheran Church where she was active in Ladies Aide and Circle. She was a loving, hard working, happy mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She had a bright outlook, a great sense of humor even in all the hard times. She had so many friends – many at the nursing home who were her caregivers and many friends from the apartment where she lived before entering the nursing home. She made the best donuts and lefse. She will be greatly missed. Susie passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 93 years, 3 months and 28 days. Survivors include one son, Richard Kapphahn of Fallon, NV; a grandson, Kevin (Lana) Kapphahn of Fallon, NV; one great grandson, Cody; and one sister, Olive (Orville) Sturm of Hastings, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, James, four brothers, Hilmer, Benford, Orville and Maurice, and two sisters, Carole and Bernice.
