Sibylla S. Opitz, 92, of Webster, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Bethesda Home in Webster.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Webster, SD. Father Doug Binsfeld will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Otto's Catholic Cemetery near Webster. Everyone is welcome back to church hall for a time of fellowship and refreshments.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster.

Sibylla Susan Keintz was born on November 20, 1930, to John and Susie Keintz in Webster, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eden, South Dakota. She graduated from Webster High School in 1948.

She was united in marriage to Delmar LaVerne Opitz on June 20, 1950. To this union five children born: Pamela, Harvey, Evelyn, Cheryl, and Barb. The couple farmed near Pickerel Lake from 1951 – 1976. They moved to Eden where they continued farming. In 1997 Sibylla and Delmar retired and they moved to Webster.

Sibylla was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eden, SD, and Christ the King Catholic Church in Webster, SD where she served on both Altar Societies.

Sibylla was an avid homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her family. She loved gardening, crocheting, cooking, and baking. She also enjoyed reading and loved plants and flowers. Above all these things she loved time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her five children: Pamela (Larry) Phillips of Coon Rapids, MN, Harvey (Melanie) Opitz of Eden, SD, Evelyn Christensen of Webster, SD, Cheryl (Randy) Majeske of Aberdeen, SD, and Barb (Carl Hanson) Stuglemayer of Bath, SD; one-sister-in-law Patty (David) Waletich of Milbank, SD; 14 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Susie Keintz; her husband Delmar Opitz; twin granddaughters; two sisters, Vivian (Ray) Jaspers and Sylvia (Ralph) Grode; one brother, Cornelius (Dorothy) Keintz; sister-in-law Arlene (Donald) Quave.
