Shirley Lavonne Stianson was born to John and Dagmar (Palm) Stianson on June 7, 1932. She grew up living on a farm with her family and attended school in Roslyn from the first grade until she graduated from high school in 1950. After high school graduation she attended Northern State Teacher’s College in Aberdeen, SD, where she earned a two-year teaching certificate. She continued her education while teaching and later received a Master’s Degree in Learning Disabilities from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. She taught elementary classes in Roslyn, Huron, Mobridge, Webster, and Pierre. Shirley was married to Rodney Fisher of Webster in 1952. To this union one son, Scott W. Fisher, was born. They lived in the towns where she taught as mentioned above. In 1983 Shirley married John J. Lee of Webster and moved to Forman, ND where John owned a drug store and worked as a pharmacist. Shortly thereafter they became residents of Pickerel Lake and Sun Lakes, AZ. They retired to Sun Lakes and lived there some thirty years and often returned to South Dakota for the summer. In 2018 they moved back to Webster and became residents of Heritage Village. John passed away on June 3, 2019, at Bethesda Home. She continued to live at Heritage Village until December 15, 2023. Shirley enjoyed reading, playing cards and mahjong, having a cup of coffee and conversation with family and friends, traveling, and shopping. She enjoyed and loved her family very much; being with them was the best thing she could think of. Left to mourn her passing are her son, Scott Ward Fisher, his wife, Gayle (Matthews) Fisher, and their children, Taylor (May) Matthews, Jonathan (Elizabeth) Matthews and Sarah (Tony) Fisher/Fernandez; Shirley had six grandchildren… Anabel, Billy and Jack Matthews, Allison and Jessica Matthews and Anneliese Fernandez, all of San Diego, CA; her sister Marlys (Winfield) Delle, of Scottsbluff, NE; a niece, Rachel (Keith) Delle and their children, James and Alison, and a great granddaughter, Charlie, all of Gering, NE. Those who preceded her in death were her husband, John, her parents, grandparents, brother-in-law, Winfield Delle, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
