SIOUX FALLS- Sherrill “Sig” Sigdestad, 75 of Sioux Falls and formally of Bristol died on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls. Memorial services will be at 11 A.M. Saturday, April 1, 2006 at Bergen Lutheran Church near Bristol Rev. Eugene Tjarks will officiate. Fiksdal Funeral Service of Webster is in charge of the arrangements. Sherrill Elwood Sigdestad was born on Thursday, April 17, 1930 to Selmer J. and Elsie (Haugen) Sidgestad on the John S. Sigdestad family homestead north of Bristol, South Dakota near Bergen Lutheran Church. He was baptized and confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church. He attended country school at Fountain School District 152 in Lynn Township and then graduated from Bristol High School. In 1953 he entered military service and served in the U.S. Army and Army Air Corps. He returned the the Bristol area after his discharge. On August 8, 1958 he married Joan Bakken, also from the Bergen community. The couple made their home in South Dakota, Montana and Idaho. For the past twenty two years they have made their home in Sioux Falls. Sherrill “Sig” was involved in sales for the major part of his life. Sig enjoyed the great outdoors and shared many quality times with his family, camping, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed his grandchildren, who, along with his children, gave him much to be thankful for. Survivors include his wife, Joan of Sioux Falls; one son, Lance Sigdestad of Sioux Falls, SD; one daughter, Carmen (Jerry) Steen of Sioux Falls, SD; two brothers, John E. (Beth) Sigdestad of Bristol, SD and David (Ava) Sigdestad of Pierpont, SD; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Murray and Lori.
