Scott Schmidt, 52, of Webster, SD passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Ava’s Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.
Private services will be held Friday February 5, 2021 at 2P.M. and will be livestreamed on Fiksdal Funeral Service Facebook page. Public visitation will be 1-2 P.M. at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster. The family respectfully requests that masks be worn. A graveside celebration of life will be held this summer.
Scott Robert Schmidt was born on November 14, 1968 to Robert and Sharon (Cross) Schmidt at Webster, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at The United Methodist Church in Webster. He attended school in Webster and graduated from Webster High School in 1987. While in school he was quite the athlete being involved in baseball where he was pitcher and football where he competed as running back. In his younger years he was also active in boy scouts.
After his education he worked various jobs including WEB Water, Larsen Construction, Kuecker Concrete, and The DeCoy Bar in Webster. Scott was a lifelong member of The United Methodist Church in Webster. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Scott was also an avid NASCAR fan with Dale Ernhardt being his favorite driver. Scott was also a driving force with “Schmidt/Foltz Family Racing”. He also enjoyed following the Washington Redskins and Nebraska Huskers. He loved his cat, Tuka as well as many stray cats he cared for. Above all else, he loved his family and time spent with his friends.
Scott passed away Friday January 28, 2021 at Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 52 years, 2 months, and 14 days.
He will be forever missed by his parents Robert “Bob” and Sharon Schmidt, two sisters: Shawna (Arnie) Simon and Shelli Schmidt, one foster sister Rhonda O’Daniel, one niece Abby Simon, and two nephews: Tyler Johnson and Benji Simon. He is also survived by two uncles: David (Diane) Cross and Franklin Schmidt as well as his dear friends: Kevin Gaikowski, Donovan Burns, Greg Schimmel, Gary German, and Corey Fields. He was preceded in death by two nephews: Eric and Chad Simon.
