Scott Parker Jacobson was born on January 8, 1958, to Gerald and Barbara (Johnson) Jacobson at Watertown, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at American Lutheran Church in Webster. He attended school in Webster and graduated in 1976. After high school, he furthered his education at Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown, obtaining his degree in Advance Auto Maintenance and Repair.
Scott returned to Webster and worked various jobs in the area in mechanics, trucking, and welding. Scott was a “jack of all trades” and could do anything he put his mind to. He also completed computer training with Microsoft. He was very tech savvy and thoroughly enjoyed building computers and tinkering on gadgets.
Scott was known to share that he had two birthdays. The first being the day he came into this world (he would joke he shared his birthday with the one and only- Elvis Presley!), but also his mother Barb’s birthday June 15, and the year 2013. That was the day Scott made a commitment to make a life altering change. Scott moved to Watertown and began his new life of sobor living. He took a position at Codington County Heritage Museum working as an archivist, cataloging all museum inventory into a new computer system. He later worked at Sharp’s Automotive as a courtesy driver and wore many hats within the company, helping wherever needed. In 2020, Scott retired and continue to make his home in Watertown. This past June, he celebrated 11 years of sobriety.
Scott loved the Minnesota Twins and even made himself a webpage adorning his passion for the team. His last Target Field visit with family was in 2017. In his youth, while the family was living in Albuquerque, he followed The Dodgers farm team. He had many memories of the players and future major leaguers. Whenever you would visit Scott’s home, the British comedy, “The Last of Summer Wine” was always playing on a loop! Scott also enjoyed classic and news cars and keeping his apartment organized. He cherished family get-togethers and always had a coke or a cup of coffee in his hand. His children and granddaughter were his largest blessings, and he will be forever loved and greatly missed by each of them.
Scott passed away June 26, 2024, at Watertown, South Dakota at the age of 66 years, 5 months, and 18 days.
He will remain in the hearts of his children, Nicole Jacobson of Groton, SD, Aaron Jacobson of Aberdeen, SD, and Brittany Jacobson of Aberdeen, SD, as well as his granddaughter Nora Jacobson of Aberdeen, SD. He is also survived by his siblings, Tim Jacobson of Webster, SD, Susan (Dr. Mark) Rieb of Watertown, SD, Kari (Doug) Valsvig of Webster, SD, and Ann (Scott) Hakes of Ashville, NC, as well as many nieces and nephews. Welcoming Scott to Heaven are his parents, and nephew Chris Rieb.
