Sandy (Steiner) Zundel

Sandy (Steiner) Zundel, 63, of Big Stone Lake and formerly of Forbes, ND passed away Thursday February 18, 2021 at her home. A memorial service will be 2 P.M. Tuesday MARCH 2, 2021 at the funeral home. The family respectfully requests that masks be worn. A walk thru memorial visitation will be 5-7P.M. the evening before at the funeral home. Sandy Geraldine Steiner was born on July 11, 1957 to Kenneth and MaryAnn (Wegleitner) Steiner at Sisseton, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eden, South Dakota. She attended grade school in Eden and graduated from Roslyn High School in 1976. After high school, she moved out to Rapid City for awhile and then to Aberdeen where she worked at 3M. In November of 1987, she married Loren Zundel. The couple made their home on the Zundel family farm near Forbes, North Dakota. Sandy was a homemaker, raising their children and always helping with any farming task handed to her. She was kept busy whether it be running workers from field to field or cooking delicious meals for all helping with the planting and harvest seasons. She drove tractor like a “BOSS” and was always ready to take care of anything that needed to get done. In the fall of 2017, Sandy moved to a lake home on Big Stone Lake. She made many new friends and neighbors during her short time living there. Sandy enjoyed traveling, the family vacations to Hawaii and Mexico were a couple of her favorites. She adored her cats and could often be seen riding around the farm on her side-by-side. She loved going to concerts and craft shows and hosting Bible studies. Sandy had a kind and generous heart who always put others first. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a contagious laugh that could brighten anyone’s day. She was a people person and flourished when she was surrounded by family and friends. Sandy had a way of making everyone feel special by gifting them a special gift or cooking their favorite dish. She was an incredibly special person and will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to have known her. Sandy passed away Thursday February 18, 2021 at Big Stone Lake at the age of 63 years, 7 months, and 7 days. She will be forever loved and greatly missed by her children: Jason (Samantha) Zundel of Mandan, ND, Kyle (Wesley Mitchell) Zundel of Forbes, ND, and Justina (Tel Pudwill) Zundel of Forbes, ND, grandchildren: Amelia, Benjamin, and Edwin, her mother Maryann (Jay Buss) Steiner of Lake City, SD, siblings: Glen (Dorothy) Steiner of Eden, SD, Gene Steiner of Lake City, SD, Loren (Shelley) Steiner of Mitchell, SD, Arlene Steiner of Lake City, SD, and Judy Hendrickson of Roslyn, SD. She is also survived by her former husband and friend Loren Zundel of Forbes, ND and close friend Rand Rosenwald of Brainerd, MN. She was preceded in death by her father Kenneth, brother-in-law Jon Hendrickson, and nephew Jeremy Hendrickson.
