Russell Phillips, 69 of Waubay died on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at his home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Russell Alvin Phillips was born on October 31, 1948 to Alvin and Lorna (Barry) Phillips at Webster, South Dakota. He was baptized into the Christian faith. He attended school in Waubay and graduated in 1967.
After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He was stationed in Vietnam. Upon his honorable discharge in 1971, he returned to the United States and traveled extensively. He lived in various locations and worked several jobs over the years. In 2008, he returned to Waubay and remained there until his passing.
Russell loved woodworking and crafting of all kinds. He enjoyed puzzles, as well as attending swap meets to sell his crafts and creations.
He is survived by his three children; Alexander Phillips and Andy Phillips both of Missouri and Alecia Phillips of Kansas. He is also survived by his siblings; Jeffrey Phillips, John Phillips, and Faye (Gerald) Duff-Pies all of Waubay, SD, Ronald (Lydia) Phillips of Alpena, SD, and Arnold (Arlet) Phillips of East Grand Forks, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents.
