Roy Kirchner. 79 of Waubay died on Monday, May 6, 2013 at his home on Blue Dog Lake, Waubay. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 10, 2013 at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster, Rev. Janet Miller will officiate, military interment will take place at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Roy Alvin Kirchner was born on Tuesday, October 24, 1933 to Arthur and Julia (Fournier) Kirchner in St. Paul, Minnesota. He graduated from Rosemount High School in 1951. In March 1954 he entered the U.S. Army. He married Connie Honsey on May 18, 1955. Four children were born to this union, Larry, Cheryll, Lisa and Norman. The marriage later ended in divorce. Roy was employed at American Hoist and Derrick in St. Paul for many years. Roy was united in marriage to Isabel (Davison) Atkins in St. Paul Park, Minnesota. After Roy retired the couple made their home at Blue Dog Lake, Waubay, South Dakota. Roy enjoyed violin making and repairing, hunting, fishing and he especially like to cook. He passed away on Monday, May 6, 2013 at his home at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 12 days. Survivors include his wife Isabel of Waubay; one son, Norman Kirchner of Shakopee, MN; two daughters, Cheryll (Dan) Barnes of Hampton, MN and Lisa (Robert) Sherry of Burnsville, MN; step-daughters, Janice (Gerald) Dargatz of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Kay Thompson of Clinton, IA and Lucy (Edward) Ihrke of Westbrook, MN; two sisters, Inez Kohls and Doris (Burt) Nieman both of Cottage Grove, MN; five grandchildren, one great grandchild and several step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Larry, one grandson, Charlie Landon and a brother, Lloyd.
