Ronald "Ron" Grajczyk, 70, of Grenville, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Sanford Hospital Webster.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, September 16, 2022 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grenville. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-6:30 P.M. Thursday closing with a prayer service at the church.
Ronald Joseph Grajczyk was born on September 5, 1952 to Roman and Rosanna (Stitch) Grajczyk at Webster, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grenville. Growing up, the family made their home on a farm near Grenville. Ron attended country school for a couple years as well as parochial school in Grenville and then Roslyn High School. After his education, he moved to Minnesota for a short time and later to Rapid City before returning to Grenville.
On October 5, 1973, he married Janice Gruba at Elk Point, South Dakota. To this union four children were born, Ronald Jr., Becky, Scott, and Travis. The family made their home in Lisbon, North Dakota where Ron worked as a welder at Bobcat. In 1998, the family returned to Grenville. Ron and Janice managed The Longbranch Bar in Grenville for several years. Ron later drove truck for Powder Tech and would fill in as a part time bus driver. Due to health reasons, he retired in 2009.
Ron was a true “car man”! He loved racing and leaving a burnout was a trademark! Ron was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where he was very active and taught CCD for many years. He also served as Grenville Mayor. Ron was a gentle soul with a heart of gold. He cherished his family and adored his grandchildren.
Ron passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 70 years and 6 days.
He will be forever loved and greatly missed by his wife Janice of Grenville, SD, children, Ronnie (Jessi) Grajczyk of Medina, MN, Becky (Eric) Hanson of Lisbon, ND, Scott (Michele) Grajczyk of Webster, SD, and Travis (Danielle) Grajczyk of Worthing, SD, eleven grandchildren, and one great-grandson. He is also survived by one brother Gary (Pati) Grajczyk of Rapid City, SD, three sisters, Marcia (Dave) Jepson of Ritchfield, MN, Kathleen (Tom) Fritz of New Trier, MN, and Cindy Grajczyk of Apple Valley, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Roman Grajczyk Jr. and Russell Grajczyk, two sisters, Jackie Vehe and Ramona Foore, as well as one nephew Russell Vehe.
