Robert "Bob" Grode

Robert "Bob" Grode, 88, of Bristol, SD, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Sanford USD Medical Center, in Sioux Falls, SD. 

Memorial Services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, August 8, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Groton, SD and will be livestreamed on Fiksdal Funeral Service Facebook page. Luncheon will follow at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Rectory in Groton. Inurnment will be at 1:30 P.M. at Bristol Cemetery in Bristol, SD following the luncheon.

Memorial Visitation will be from 5-6:30 P.M. on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Groton and will close with a 6:30 P.M. Prayer Service.

Robert Leroy Grode was born on December 14, 1933, to Joseph and Emma (Nolte) Grode in Rural Butler, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bristol, South Dakota. He attended country school and later graduated from Bristol High School in 1951. Bob lost his leg in a car accident when he was 18 but he never let that slow him down. After his education he farmed with his dad. 

He was united in marriage to Marian Prunty on June 14, 1955. The couple had 10 children together whom they raised on a farm in Butler, South Dakota. Bob and Marian milked cows for over 30 years. Bob continued farming and retired in the late 1990s. Though retired he still played an active role on the farm. Bob and Marian moved to a home in Bristol in 2012 and then to the Sun Dial Manor in 2020. Marian passed away on November 18, 2021. Bob continued to live in Sun Dial Manor. Bob served on numerous boards, some of which included Troy Township Board and FSA Board. He was an avid reader, enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, and watching the Minnesota Twins Baseball. Above all these things he especially enjoyed the time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. 

Bob passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 88 years, 7 months, and 20 days.  

Bob is survived by his sons: Daniel (Deacon) of Bristol, SD; Loren (Karla) of E. Wenatchee, WA; Keith (Toni) of Katy, TX; Paul of Yuma, AZ; Tom (Tiffany) of Brandon, SD and daughters: Mary Kay of Aberdeen, SD; Sandy (Craig) Lee of Racine, WI; fourteen grandchildren: Travis (Tori) of Fort Collins, CO; Terri (Jeff) Rybicki of Cary, IL; Matt (Lori) of Minneapolis, MN; Emily (Robert) Graham of Lincoln, NE; Cole (Lindsey) of E. Wenatchee; Royce of E. Wenatchee, WA; Kessley of E. Wenatchee, WA; Jayce of E. Wenatchee, WA; Jake of Katy, TX; Lacey Moslemi of Yuma, AZ, Kyle (Ashley) of Phoenix, AZ; Kody (Jordon) Simpson of Yuma, AZ; Reid (Kaylee) Grode of Sioux Falls, SD; Chase (Alyssa Van Kalsbeek) of Brandon, SD and Quinn of Brandon, SD, and nine great grandchildren and one on-the-way; one brother: Donald (Don) Grode of Bristol, SD. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Marian; three sons: David, Bill and Brent, his parents, one brother Richard (Rich) Grode, and one sister Marge Warrington, and one in infancy.
