Richard “Richie” Rucktaeschel 51 of Webster died after a short battle with cancer on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Sanford Hospital in Webster.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster, Rev. Ken Ballard will officiate. Inurnment will be at Trinity Presbyterian Cemetery at Avon, South Dakota. Memorial visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. Saturday until service time.
Richard Allen Rucktaeschel was born on October 6, 1964 to Duane and Evelyn (Nelson) Rucktaeschel at Tracy, Minnesota. He was baptized at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Milroy, Minnesota and later confirmed at American Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake, Minnesota. He began elementary school in Elbow Lake and after the family moved to Webster in 1978 he continued his schooling. After he received his education he worked construction for Central Confinement Services, out of Nebraska, building farm buildings in various locations in the region.
He married Viki Dee Campbell on December 3, 1983. To this union two children were born, Josh and Jennifer. In 1992 Richie, along with his children moved to Avon, South Dakota and he continued to work in construction for Central Confinement Services, working alongside his father and brother, Rocky. In 1998 he returned to Webster where he worked for Holmquist Construction and United Building Center. Later, health issues forced him to retire from active work.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Richie passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 51 years, 11 months and 17 days.
Survivors include one son, Josh (Kim) Rucktaeschel of Avon, SD; two daughters, Erica Jo Lee of Watertown, SD and Jennifer (Justin) Spooner of Webster, SD; his mother, Evelyn (Harrison) Dean of Webster, SD; step-mother, Mary Ann Rucktaeschel of Wagner, SD; one brother, Rocky (Melissa) Rucktaeschel of Tyndall, SD; one sister, Roxan (Wesley Holmquist) of Waubay, SD; two half-sisters, Kala (Joseph) Cuka and Kari Rucktaeschel both of Wagner, SD; three grandchildren, Taylor, Riley and Devin Rucktaeschel; a special friend, Sally Bock of Webster, SD; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Duane and grandparents, Clarence and Evelyn Rucktaeschel and Emil and Christine Nelson.
