Richard Jr. Kroll

BRISTOL- Richard O. Kroll, 71 of Webster and formerly of Bristol died on Monday June 30, 2008 at Bethesda Home in Webster. His service will be 10:30 A.M. Monday July 7, 2008 at Zion Lutheran Church in Andover, Rev. Lloyd Redhage officiating. Burial with Military Rites will be at Groton Union Cemetery near Groton. Visitation will be Sunday 5 – 7 P.M. with a 7 P.M. prayer service at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster. Richard Otto Kroll Jr. was born August 22, 1936 to Richard O. Sr. and his wife Emma Sophie Kroll (Hoops) south of Groton, South Dakota. He grew up in northeastern South Dakota in the Bristol, Groton and Andover areas and attended the local area school, east Hanson Prairie Pride 25-8. He enjoyed working on the family farm with his five siblings until February of 1956 when he entered into the US Army serving in Europe for 2 years. After returning to Andover in 1961 he moved to Seattle, Washington where he married Janice Morehouse in 1962 and was divorced in 1967. To this union one son was born, Michael Wayne. He lived for a short period of time in Houston Texas. He moved back to Groton in 1970 and was employed in construction and farming. In September of 1971 he married Sharon Raap. To this marriage six sons were born. Richard retired in 2001 due to health problems. He was currently residing at Bethesda Home in Webster. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Richard passed away on Monday June 30, 2008 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 71 years ten months, and eight days Surviving him are his seven sons Michael (Patty) Kroll of Seattle WA, Richard Kroll of Bristol, SD, Daniel (Jennifer) Kroll of Bristol, SD, David Kroll of Bristol, SD, Jeffrey Kroll of Webster, SD, John (Katie) Kroll of Lake Crystal, MN, Brian Kroll of White, SD, one adopted daughter Deb (Daryll) Peckham of Bristol, SD, and 10 grandchildren. Surviving siblings are, Helen Morse of Kent WA, Adeline (Jack) Blair of Andover, SD, Walter (Alice) Kroll of Andover, SD, Rose (George) Dinger of Kent, WA, one sister-in-law, Billie Kroll of Pasadena, TX and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Gunther, one niece and one nephew.
