WEBSTER- Raymond Kwasniewski, 88 of Webster died on Monday, December 6, 2010 at Bethesda Home in Webster.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, December 10, 2010 at Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster, Burial with military rites by Henning-Shemanski Post 276 American Legion will be in St. Ottos Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Thursday 2-4 P.M. then continuing at the church until 8 P.M. with a 7 P.M. Rosary. Fiksdalfuneral.com.
Raymond John Kwasniewski was born on Sunday, May 21, 1922 to Joseph and Martha (Miller) Kwasniewski on the family farm near Grenville, South Dakota. He was baptized at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Grenville and attended country school near his home. After he received his education he helped on the family farm. In October 1942 he entered the U. S. Army and served during World War II where he was stationed in Italy and North Africa. He received the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged in November 1945 and returned to the Grenville area.
On June 24, 1946 he was united in marriage to Rosella Kurkowski at St. Josephs Catholic Church. After their marriage the couple made their home with his parents in Webster, then rented a farm east of Webster, worked for Rathbuns, Gellerman Loe and carpentry work for Fred Martinson. In 1964 the couple purchased a farm in Highland Township, Day County south of Webster. In 1988 the couple retired, sold the farm and moved to Gaikowski Addition near Webster. Their son, David currently resides on their farm. They recently entered Bethesda Home in Webster.
He was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster where he was a member of Catholic Foresters. He was a member of Henning-Shemanski Post 267 American Legion of Grenville and V.F.W. Post 4590 of Webster. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening and yard work. He enjoyed planting trees.
Ray passed away on Monday, December 6, 2010 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 15 days.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Rosella of Webster; five sons, Duane (Brenda) Kwasniewski of Faulkton, SD, Loren (Renee) Kwasniewski of Holmquist, SD, Gary (Margaret) Kwasniewski, David (Jean) Kwasniewski and Donnan (Karla) Kwasniewski all of Webster, SD; two daughters, Beverly Kwasniewski of Webster, SD and Darlene (Gerald) Lesnar of Grenville, SD; one sister, Clara Wattier of Webster, SD; nineteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. He was preceded death by his parents, a great-grandchild and siblings, John, Ted, Josephine, Bernard, Ignatz, Anton, Thomas, Rose, Philomena, Henry, Joseph, Frances and Stanley.
