GRENVILLE- Raymond Francis Henning, 86 of Grenville died on Monday, February 18, 2008 at his home near Grenville. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 21, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grenville. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Wednesday 2-4 P.M. then continuing at the church until 8 P.M. with a 7 P.M. Rosary service. Raymond Henning was born on August 7, 1921 to Conrad and Valeria (Block) Henning. He attended country school. On October 29, 1946 he married Modesta Herrick of Grenville, and they eventually settled on their farm northeast of Grenville, near Pickerel Lake, where they lived the rest of their lives. They had four children, Rodney, Sandra, Sherry & Gregory. Raymond was an avid sportsman who particularly enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a talented baseball player, who established a number of records for the Grenville team. He also enjoyed serenading his family with polkas and waltzes on his accordion and trumpet. Raymond was a devoted husband and father, who never knew a stranger and would help anyone. He was unpretentious and always saw the best in everyone and everything. He was preceded in death by his wife, Modesta; his sister Irene and his brother Henry. He is survived by two daughters, Sandy Henning and Sherry (John) Key; two sons, Rodney (Connie) Henning and Gregory Henning; his brothers John Henning & William Henning, and three sisters, Dorothy Dahling, Theresa Herrick and Eleanor Anderson; seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
