M. Ramona "Mona" Mikkelson, 91, of Waubay, passed away, Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Bethesda Home in Webster.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Friday, February 28, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Waubay. Burial will be at the Waubay Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-7 pm Thursday, February 27, 2025, with a 6:30 pm scriptural wake service at the funeral home.
Margaret Ramona Weyh was born on May 29, 1933, to Frank Sr. and Leona (Lauseng) Weyh on the family farm north of Waubay. She was baptized and confirmed at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Waubay. She attended country school at District #206 through the eighth grade and later obtained her GED. After her education, she worked at Bartron Office in Watertown.
In November 1955, she married Robert Breske. The couple made their home north of Waubay. After Robert passed in 1973, Mona moved to Milbank, where she worked at Trevett’s Café.
In July 1975, she married Donald Mikkelson. The couple made their home north of Waubay. Mona was mainly a homemaker and farmer’s wife but also sold Avon. Don passed in 2000 and in 2004, Mona moved into Waubay. She remained at her home until 2018, when failing health moved her to Bethesda Home in Webster.
She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers. She cherished the time spent with her family, whether it be shopping trips, drives around the country, or days at the lake. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she was active in the altar society.
Mona passed away at Webster, South Dakota, at the age of 91 years, 8 months, and 26 days.
Mona will be forever loved and greatly missed by her sisters, Dorothy Dargatz, Sylvia Dargatz, and Patty (Royce) Birney, and in laws, Carol Weyh, Ruth (Don) Doyen, Marilyn Baumgarn, Dorothy Derringer, Herman Hansen, Virginia Breske, and Sharon Breske. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, siblings, Frank (Carol) Weyh Jr., Blanche Weyh, and James Weyh Sr., and many brothers and sisters in law.
