Oriet Althoff, 76, of Webster passed away Saturday April 11, 2020 at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown. Private graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday April 18, 2020 at Fron Lutheran Cemetery with a live-stream video available at Fiksdal Funeral Service Facebook page. Oriet Ann Stadsklev was born on July 4, 1943 to Clarence and Eunice (Peterson) Stadsklev in Day County, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at Lily Lutheran Church. She attended country school near the family farm west of Lily, South Dakota. She then went on to attend Webster High School for two years until her father fell ill and Oriet quit school to help take care of the family farm. Oriet moved around a lot living with different families throughout the years when her family fell on hard times. She was united in marriage to Eugene Althoff on October 2, 1961 in Wheaton, MN. The couple made their home on a farm southwest of Roslyn, SD. To this union four children were born, Myrna, Orrin, Robert, and Carol. The flooding of 1996 forced the couple to move off the farm and into Webster. Oriet worked various jobs in the Webster area, most recently at Perebooms in housekeeping. Eugene passed away in November 2019. Oriet enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, and canning. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Oriet passed away April 11, 2020 at Prairie Lakes Hospital at the age of 76 years 9 months and 4 days. She will be greatly missed by her son, Orrin Althoff of Roslyn, SD; two daughters, Myrna (Raymond) Spaar of Webster, SD and Carol Althoff of Aberdeen, SD; four sisters, Carolyn Ellefson of Ham Lake, MN, Sherry (David) Belden of Dear Island, OR, Wanda (Dale) Strike of Isanti, MN, and Janet (LeRoy) Snyder of Otsago, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Robert, two sisters, Marie and Carol, one grandson Michael, and one great-granddaughter Ally.
