WEBSTER Muriel Gleason 88, of Webster passed away Thursday October 28, 2010 at Bethesda Home in Webster.
Her funeral will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Webster, Rev. John Hisel officiating. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday 5-7 P.M. at Fiksdal Funeral Service, Webster and prior to the services on Tuesday. Family prefers memorials directed to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 5005 LBJ Freeway Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244.
Alice Muriel Boomgaarden was born on Friday, May 19, 1922 to Harvey and Ella (Seeley) Boomgaarden on the family farm near Langdon, North Dakota. She grew up there and attended Harvey Township #3 school and graduated from Langdon High School in 1940. She graduated from Wahpeton School of Science in Secretarial Sciences.
On August 20, 1941 she was united in marriage to Guy Gleason at Langdon, North Dakota. After their marriage the couple farmed the Gleason family farm south of Claire City, South Dakota. In 1961 they moved to Sisseton and then in 1968 moved to Webster. Guy died in October 1990. After his death she continued to reside in Webster.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Webster. She also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star, Red Hat Ladies, Webster Garden Club, Webster Study Club and served on the Webster Centennial Scholarship Committee. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Muriel passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 88 years, five months and nine days.
Survivors include two daughters, Candace (Jim) Storm of Minneapolis, MN and Jane (Greg) Stone of Encinitas, CA; two sons, Dave (Bonnie) Gleason of Claire City, SD and Pat Gleason of Webster, SD; one sister, Marjorie Weston of Roseau, MN; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Arnold Boomgaarden of Pingree, ND.
