Maurine Brendmoen 85, of Roslyn died Sunday August 21, 2011 at Sanford Hospital in Webster.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Fron Lutheran Church near Roslyn, Rev. Jan FitzGibbon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday 5-7 P.M. and prior to services on Wednesday.
Maurine Rose Eidahl was born on Wednesday, June 30, 1926 to John and Agnes (Gilbertson) Eidahl near Roslyn, South Dakota. She was confirmed at Fron Lutheran Church near Roslyn. She grew up on the family farm west of Roslyn and attended country school in Independence Township, Day County. When Maurine was a small child her mother passed away and when she graduated from country school she stayed at home and helped her father with the care of her brother and two sisters.
On January 18, 1946 she was united in marriage to Vernon Brendmoen at Langford, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple farmed in Day County until 1962 when they moved to Webster. She worked at Bethesda Home in Webster. In 1966 they moved to Aberdeen where she worked for Mother Joseph Manor until 1984. She also worked at Econo Foods until retirement in September 2000. Vernon and Maurine celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on January 20, 1996. Vernon passed away in December 1997.
Maurine enjoyed visiting with her brother, Eldon, when he would come over for coffee to visit about old times. She also enjoyed doing embroidery work and baking.
Maurine passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 22 days.
Survivors include two sons, Jack (Peg) Brendmoen of Springfield, VA and Todd (Tina) Brendmoen of Sedalia, MO; three daughters, Linda (Keith) Miller of Dunnellon, FL, Betty (John) Terry of Aurora, CO and Lori (Paul) Thorberg of Rosemount, MN;one brother, Eldon (Carolyn) Eidahl of Watertown, SD; one sister, Shirley (Tubby) Schmidt of Roslyn, SD; seven grandchildren, Sara, Lychelle, Beau, Ross, Marie, Ryan and Alexandra; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, an infant daughter, one sister and an infant grandchild.
