WEBSTER- Mary Christopherson, 73 of Webster died on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Sanford Hospital in Webster. Her funeral will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 29, 2010 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster, Rev. Daniel and Rev. Kristin Ostercamp will officiate. Burial will be in Webster Cemetery. Mary Caroline Ronshaugen was born on Tuesday, March 3, 1936 to Hjalmer and Josie (Aspen) Ronshaugen at Webster, South Dakota. The family made their home west of Roslyn in Lynn Township, Day County. She was baptized and confirmed at Fron Lutheran Church near Roslyn. She attended country schools near her home, Roslyn High School and then graduated from Webster High School in 1954. While in high school she worked as a nurses aide at Peabody Memorial Hospital in Webster. She took nurses training and graduated from Ancker Hospital in St. Paul in September 1957 as a Registered Nurse. She returned to Webster and began her career as a Registered Nurse at Peabody Memorial Hospital which in 1958 moved to the new Day County Hospital. On June 15, 1958 she was united in marriage to Orville “Pete” Christopherson at Fron Lutheran Church. After their marriage the couple made their home in Webster where she continued her career as a floor supervisor at Day County Hospital. She also worked at Day County Medical Center for five years. She retired in the fall of 2005, a career which spanned as a nurses aide in high school to her retirement a total of 53 years. Pete passed away in March 2005. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was active in Circle, W.E.L.C.A. and Bible study. She also volunteered at Pleasant View. She enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and was passionate about spending time with family and friends. While her mother was living spent countless hours with her while she resided in the nursing home. Mary passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 73 years, 10 months and 21 days. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Denise Christopherson of Marshall, MN; two grandchildren, David Christopherson of Sioux Falls, SD and Stacey Christopherson of Wichita, KS; three brothers, Jim (Mary Jo) Ronshaugen of East Helena, MT, Stephen (Janet) Ronshaugen of Grand Island, NE and Howard (Judy) Ronshaugen of Webster, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Jim.
