Ortley - Mary Ann Eidet 85 of Milbank and formerly of Ortley passed away Wednesday September 12, 2018 at Milbank Area Hospital in Milbank.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday September 17, 2018 at Ortley Free Lutheran Church in Ortley. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery.
Mary Ann Schmig was born on September 18, 1932 in Webster, South Dakota to William and Myrtle (Brekke) Schmig. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith. The family made their home on a farm near Waubay, South Dakota. Mary Ann attended country school in Day County. After her education she babysat and worked various jobs in the area.
On February 22, 1954 she was united in marriage to Walter Eidet in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple made their home on the Eidet homestead south of Ortley, South Dakota. To this union seven children were born. Mary Ann was a homemaker and enjoyed staying home to raise their children.
Mary Ann was a member at Ortley Free Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing BINGO, cards (especially “Up the River”), dancing, shopping, listening to music, and giving hugs.
Mary Ann is survived by her children; Judy (Rick) Tobin of Pierpont, SD; Carol (Roger) Cotton of Ortley, SD; Kathy Fosheim of Webster, SD; Steve (Pam) Eidet of Waubay, SD; Barbara (Tom) DeMaris of Ortley, SD; Linda (John) Anderson of Waubay, SD; Donna (Brian) Johnson of Webster, SD; 17 grandchildren, 12 great-granddaughters, 4 great-grandsons, her lifelong family friend, Cheryl Berger of Waubay, SD, one sister, Margaret Breske of Summit, SD; one sister-in-law, Delores Schmeig of Webster, SD; and nieces, nephews, and friends. Mary Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Walter; one son, Michael Steven; her parents; two brothers, Albert and Don; one sister; and one son-in-law, Dennis Paulson.
Visitation will be Sunday 5-7 P.M. closing with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service at the funeral home.
