Martha Sewell

Martha Sewell 89 of Brandon and formerly of Webster died Monday September 28, 2015 at Bethany Nursing Home in Brandon. Her funeral will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Webster, Rev. Ken Ballard will officiate. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church. Fiksdal Funeral Service of Webster is in charge of the arrangements. Martha Jean Chrouch was born on Tuesday, April 6, 1926 at Conway, Arkansas. When she was a young child the family moved to Little Rock, Arkansas where she attended school and graduated from high school. She then attended a community college in Little Rock. On July 14, 1946 she was united in marriage to Warren Sewell at Little Rock, Arkansas. After their marriage the couple moved to his hometown, Webster, South Dakota where he began a dental practice and Martha was a homemaker and raised her family. Warren passed away in October 2007. After his death Martha remained in her home until September 2010 when she moved to Bethany Meadows Senior Living in Brandon to be closer to her family. Martha was a member of the United Methodist Church in Webster where she was active in the U.M.W. She was also a member of Eastern Star, Webster P.E.O. Club and Ladies Golf. She enjoyed reading, golfing, outdoors and nature and spending time at the couple’s lake cabin on Pickerel Lake. Martha passed away on Monday, September 28, 2015 at Brandon, South Dakota at the age of 89 years, 5 months and 22 days. Survivors include two sons, Graig (Martha) Sewell of Valley Springs, SD and Mark (Dori) Sewell of Dahlgren, VA; one daughter, Lynne (Dr. Tom) Pillar of Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and three sisters.
