Marjorie "Marge" Brandlee

Marjorie “Marge” Brandlee, 90, of Bristol passed away Wednesday December 16, 2020 at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol. Public walk thru visitation will be 5-6 P.M. Monday December 21, 2020 at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster. Visitation will be livestreamed on Fiksdal Funeral Service Facebook page so those from afar can view those in attendance. Those who are in attendance can leave a greeting to the family virtually on the livestream video. Graveside services will be held at Bergen Cemetery later in the spring. Marjorie Alice Gill was born on April 15, 1930 to Lloyd and Martha (Link) Gill at Webster, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol. She grew up on the Gill Family Farm East of Bristol. She attended school in Bristol, graduating in 1948. On November 21, 1948, she was united in marriage to Orville Brandlee. The couple made their home in Bristol for a short time while employed at Davidson Oil Company in Bristol. In 1952, the couple moved to the Brandlee Farm and began their farming operation. They milked cows and raised livestock including cattle and hogs. In 1997, she and Orville moved into the house in Bristol that her grandfather, Fred Link, had built. Orville continued to help on the farm, and Marge kept busy volunteering for Bergen Church and Sun Dial Auxiliary. She was a member at Bergen Lutheran church where she was active in Ladies Aide and WELCA. She loved music and was a beautiful singer, having performed in many events with The Bergen Trio. Marge enjoyed playing cards, UNO and Skipbo with Orville were some of her favorites. The couple also enjoyed playing whist with other couples as well as dancing. She was a master at lefse making and taught many friends and family members the tedious skill so it can be passed down for generations. Marge was known for her big smile, especially when she wasn’t talking due to a stroke she endured. Marge passed away Wednesday December 16, 2020 at Bristol, South Dakota at the age of 90 years, 8 months and 1 day. She will be forever loved by her sons: Warren (Janice) Brandlee of Clark, SD, Mark (Deb) Brandlee of Bristol, SD, and Tim (Kara) Brandlee of Ft. Pierre, SD, one sister Carol Taylor of Vancouver, WA, five grandchildren: Nichol (Dave) Sutton of New Hope, MN, Evan (Darla) Brandlee of Watertown, SD, Clint (Kelly) Brandlee of Pierpont, SD, Kelsie (Josh) Williams of Alexandria, VA, Megan (Seth) Erickson of Groton, SD, as well as nine great-grandchildren: Elijah, Ethan, Erik, Jessalyn, Lukas, Sirena, Haley, Max, Jaycee, and soon to be tenth great-grandchild, Baby Brandlee (due in May). She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Orville in 2018, two sisters: Joyce Eikanas and Helen Peterson, and one grandson Andrew Brandlee.
