WAUBAY – Marion Pruszinski of Waubay and formerly of rural Pickerel Lake passed away Tuesday May 2, 2017 at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 A.M. Monday May 8, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Church in Waubay. Military interment will be in the Lakewood Cemetery near Waubay.
Visitation will be 5-7 P.M. closing with the Rosary Sunday at Fiksdal Funeral Service.
Marion was born March 12, 1936 at Waubay, South Dakota to Peter and Regina (Lewandowski) Pruszinski. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grenville, South Dakota. The family made their home on a farm east of Pickerel Lake, where they were engaged in farming. Marion attended country school at Kosciusko # 201 near their home. After his education, he continued to farm with his father and brother.
Marion was drafted to the US Army during peace time in the 1950’s. He was stationed in Ft. Carson in Colorado and later at Ft. Lewis in Washington. After his honorable discharge, he returned to the family farm and continued farming until 2013, when he and his sister Louise moved to Waubay. Marion loved his farm and enjoyed the work it entailed. He was a member at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grenville and later at Immaculate Conception Church in Waubay.
Marion passed away Tuesday May 2, 2017 at Bristol, South Dakota at the age of 81 years, 1 month, and 20 days.
He will be greatly missed by his sister Louise Pruszinski of Waubay, South Dakota, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Martin, and one sister Marcella Blood.
