M. Jayne Sellevold was born on December 10, 1943 to Chester and Madelyn (Haugen) Sellevold at Webster, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at Roslyn Lutheran Church. She attended country grade school in Nutley Township District #166 and graduated from Roslyn High School in 1961. Jayne then moved to California for a short time and took college courses at UCLA. She returned to South Dakota and met and married Jerry Pierson. To this union a son Chris was born. The family moved to California for some time and later returned to South Dakota. Jayne and Chris then relocated to Minneapolis, where Jayne worked for Carousel Snack Bar and Claire’s Boutique setting up stores in shopping malls across the US. She later took up a career in property management, managing properties in the Minneapolis metro area and later in California managing a large area of properties in northern California. In 2010, Jayne retired from property management and returned to South Dakota. She worked at SK Living Center and enjoyed being back in her hometown.
Jayne was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan. She was one to always root for the underdog unless it was the GB Packers! Jayne was fond of trying new places to eat and was always up for a good treat! She enjoyed following politics and her Republican party. Her love of God was evident in her faithfully, kind heart and sweet nature. She will be greatly missed by many.
Jayne sadly leaves her son Chris Pierson of Brentwood, CA, one sister Sharon (Wes) Monshaugen of Roslyn, South Dakota, one nephew Lonnie (Marie) Johnson of Grenville, SD, as well as four great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and former husbands Jerry Pierson and Gary Hayes.
