LuAnn Engelbert 87 of Roslyn and formerly of Webster died on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Strand-Kjorsvig Community Rest Home in Roslyn.
Memorial services will at 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 14, 2011 at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster. Rev. Vicky Saude-Worthington will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date at Hollandale, Wisconsin.
Lou Ann was born October 9, 1924 to John and Lottie Stefferud in Sparta, Wisconsin. After the family moved to Wausau, Wisconsin, where Lou Ann graduated as valedictorian of her high school class, she continued her education at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, earning a BA in Economics.
On September 16, 1946, Lou Ann married L. Edwin Engelbert and they made their home in Madison, Wisconsin. The family moved to Middleton, Wisconsin in 1955. Lou Ann and Ed moved to Webster, South Dakota in 1995, to be near their daughter, Alice Fellbaum. She entered Strand-Kjorsvig Community Rest Home in Roslyn in September 2011.
Lou Ann was a lover of literature and languages and closely followed current events and politics. She volunteered her time and services freely in the community and enjoyed sewing for her grandchildren and others. Lou Ann modeled the love the Lord as an inspiration for her children and grandchildren. She played piano for chapel at various nursing homes and enjoyed visiting with the residents after the services.
Survivors include three sons, Paul Engelbert of Orlando, Florida, Carl (and Maureen) Engelbert of Wilmington, Delaware, and Lincoln (and Pam) Engelbert of Riverside, California; one daughter, Alice (Mrs. Dale) Fellbaum of Webster, South Dakota; nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ed (Lincoln) Engelbert and two brothers, Ted and Einar Stefferud.
