Silverton, OR- Loretta Opsahl, 80, of Silverton, Oregon died on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Mt. Angel Towers in Mt. Angel, Oregon. Her funeral will be at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster, Janet Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at Fron Lutheran Cemetery near Roslyn. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Friday 5-7 P.M. and prior to services on Saturday. fiksdalfuneral.com. Loretta Amundson was born on Monday, June 17, 1929 to Ludvig and Hannah (Johnson) Amundson at Roslyn, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at Fron Lutheran Church. She attended country school near her home and graduated from Roslyn High School in 1947. Following graduation she attended Northern Normal in Aberdeen and received her teaching certificate. She taught country school in Liberty Township, Day County for a year. On August 28, 1949 she was united in marriage to E. Clifford Opsahl at Fron Lutheran Church. After their marriage the couple made their home in Roslyn where they operated the Roslyn Café and Roslyn Meat Market for a year. Later they moved to Britton where she worked at Quarve Drug. In 1952 they moved to Long Beach, California where she started her banking career. In 1975 they moved to Silverton, Oregon where they built a new home. She continued her banking career until retiring in 2008. Mr. Opsahl passed away in March 2002. She was in failing health for a year. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Silverton. Loretta was known for her neatness, accounting accuracy and busy scheduling. She was loved by all. Loretta passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Mt. Angel Oregon at the age of 80 years, 4 months and 26 days. Survivors include her grandson, Jeffrey Opsahl of Salem, OR; a brother, Gordon Amundson of Langford, SD; a brother-in-law, Orris Fishbeck of Webster, SD; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Jerry, and a sister, Beverly Fishbeck.
