Lois Olson, 86, of Bristol, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Sundial Manor in Bristol.
The family of Lois will be hosting a "Celebration Of Life", 2:00 pm Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Butler Lutheran Church in Butler.
Per her wishes, cremains will be interred at Ebenezer Cemetery, Butler, SD and Plymouth Cemetery, Mauston, WI.
Lois Maxine Whitmyre was born October 11, 1937 to John and Mabel Whitmyre. She grew up on the farm near Butler. She attended country school and graduated from Webster High School in 1955. She attended Augustana College, Sioux Falls and Lutheran Bible Institute of Minneapolis, MN. She worked in Minneapolis, MN and a brief time in Denver, CO before working as a church secretary at Edina Covenant Church, Minneapolis. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in her early 20s.
She married Pastor Edward Olson October 16,1965 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Bloomington, MN. They lived in Maxbass, ND; Bristol, SD; Kenyon, MN and Crown Point, IN before retiring in Mauston, WI. Edward died in 2019 and she remained in their home until moving to Sun Dial Manor in June 2022.
Lois’ faith life was important to her through the churches where they lived and she continued to attend devotions at Sun Dial Manor. She enjoyed homemaking, decorating, photography, oil painting and all kinds of crafts especially counted cross stitch, quilling, decoupage, making greeting cards and writing letters. She enjoyed visiting family and friends and trips to Norway and England.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Dorothy and George Pierce, Mauston; cousins, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, great-grandnieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Maynard and Delores Whitmyre and Raymond Whitmyre.
