BRISTOL- Lillian Espeland, 95 of Bristol died on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol. Her funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster, Rev. William Olsen will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Prairie Mound Cemetery near Butler. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Monday 4-7 P.M. and prior to services on Tuesday. Lillian Josephine Espeland was born on Monday, January 29, 1912 to Lars J. and Madla “Molly” (Monson) Espeland on the family farm near Butler, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at Lily Lutheran Church. She attended school in Butler and then graduated from Butler High School in 1931. She helped on the family farm and also worked at the A.S.C. Office in Webster. She also worked as a bookkeeper at Langager Implement. In the late 1950’s Lillian, along with her father and sisters, moved into a house on the main street of Webster. She worked as a clerk in the Day County Auditor’s Office until her retirement. After retirement she cared for her father and sisters in the family home. In 2003 she moved to the Johnson Center in Bristol and in February 2007 she moved into Sun Dial Manor. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster where she was active in Circle. She ejoyed being outdoors taking care of her yard and garden. Lillian passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at Bristol, South Dakota at the age of 95 years and 24 days. Survivors include several nieces and nephews; Fern Loken of Spring Park, MN, Clifford (Lois) Buhler of Milbank, SD, Lorraine Anderson of Webster, Rev. Loren (Shirley) Espeland of St. Paul, MN, Rev. Orlo (Audrey) Espeland of Pierpont, SD, Sharon (Arlen) Klovstad of Minneapolis, MN, Doreen (Dick) Olson of Rapid City, SD and Richard (Kay) Espeland of Bristol, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Magnus, Clarence and Joe and four sisters, Cora, Laura, Alma and Myna.
