WAUBAY- Leo Zubke, 78 of Watertown and formally of Waubay died on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at Jenkins Living Center. His funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waubay, Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Lakewood Cemetery in Waubay. Visitation will be 4-7 P.M. Tuesday at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster and prior to the services on Wednesday. Leo Ervin Zubke was born on May 10, 1928 to Frank and Hattie (Bundrock) Zubke at Waubay, South Dakota. He was baptized on May 27, 1928 at Augustana Lutheran Church in Webster and confirmed June 1, 1941 at Zion Lutheran Church in Waubay. He graduated from Waubay High School in 1946. On September 28, 1946 he married Marvelyn Mikkelson at the Zion Lutheran parsonage in Waubay. The couple lived for their first year together at his parents farm and then moved to their farm south of Waubay where they lived until 1984, when they moved into Waubay. They also enjoyed time at their lake cabin. Leo retired in 1994, and entered the Jenkins Living Center in Watertown in December 2005. Leo was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Waubay, Farm Bureau and was supervisor of Central Point Township. He enjoyed family gatherings, his friends, farming, dancing, designing and building things (woodworking), and trapshooting. Leo passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at Watertown, South Dakota at the age of 78 years, 5 months, and 11 days. Survivors include his wife; Marvelyn of Waubay, S.D., three sons; Jon (Beverly) Zubke of Waubay, S.D., Jerald (Donna) Zubke of Milbank, S.D., and David (Marilyn) Zubke of Waubay, S.D., one daughter; Pamela (Lynn) Jensen of Sundance, Wyoming, one brother; Glenn (Joanne) Zubke of Adrian, Michigan, and one sister-in-law; Marlyn Zubke of Adrian, Michigan, 14 grandchildren, and 17 greatgrandchildren and several step-granchildren and step-greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son,Bob, and one brother, Howard.
