Lauren Smeins

LANGFORD – Lauren Paige Smeins, loving daughter, sister, aunt, grand-daughter, niece & friend, age 24, left us peacefully on July 7, 2010 at her home in Plymouth, MN. Recognition & celebration of Lauren’s life will take place on at 10:30 A.M. Monday, July 12, 2010 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster, Rev. Daniel and Rev. Kristin Ostercamp and Rev. Craig and Rev. Janine Rew-Werling will officiate. Burial will be in Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Sunday 5-7 P.M. with a 6:30 prayer service. Visitation will continue prior to services on Monday. The family prefers Memorials. Fiksdalfuneral.com. Born May 10, 1986 at Langford, South Dakota to Danny and Susan (Hirsch) Smeins. She was baptized at First Lutheran Church in Britton and later confirmed at Langford Evangelical Lutheran Church. Lauren attended elementary, middle school and through her sophmore year at Langford Public School. Lauren then graduated from high school in Minnetonka, Minnesota in 2005. After graduation she attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, Northern State University in Aberdeen and The Art Institute in Minneapolis. Lauren will be deeply missed by her family and friends but never forgotten. In her short time on this earth, Lauren touched our hearts in countless ways. Her uncanny sense of humor and dry wit were always uplifting. An optimist by nature, her smile and laugh were infectious. She was strong willed and openly expressive. Imaginative and creative by nature, Lauren loved photography, art, fashion and design. She was very knowlegable about all aspects of food and cooking. She was very well versed in books, movies and interior design. Making collages was a hobby of hers. It was Lauren’s incredibly soft heart that provided her deep compassion for animals, having been known to take in and care for wounded wild life. It was that same heart which held Lauren’s immense love for her family, friends and particularly her nieces and nephews. Lauren is survived by her parents Danny her sister Monica Dahl & husband Mike of Minnetonka, MN & brother Justin Falon & wife Shannon of Sioux Falls, SD; her paternal grandmother Donna Smeins of Webster, SD; nephews & nieces, Jacob and Mackenzie Dahl; Libby, Darian, Kendall, & Hunter Falon in addition to numerous aunts, uncles & cousins; a loving boyfriend Tristan Johnson of Plymouth; and her dog, Edison. She is preceded in death by grandparents, Lawrence Smeins, Victor, Ruth and Helen Hirsch.
