A joint Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grenville, inurnment will follow at the church cemetery.
Kermith died on Saturday, September 22, 2014 at Sisseton and Dorothy died on October 8, 2010 at Grand Junction, CO. They were formerly of Red Wing, MN and Grand Junction, CO. There will be no visitation.
Kermith Henry Dahling was born on September 7, 1933 at Red Wing, Minnesota to Henry and Frances (Pohl) Dahling. He attened school at Red Wing and graduated from Red Wing High School. On September 18, 1954 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Henning at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grenville, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home in Red Wing.
In 1959 he entered the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed in Turkey, France and Albuquerque, New Mexico. After he was honorably discharged in 1965 the couple returned to Red Wing where he was employed as a welder and machinist at Central Research. In 1995 he retired the couple moved to Grand Junction, Colorado. Dorothy passed away in 2010. He remained in Grand Junction until 2013 when he moved to Tekakwitha Nursing Center in Sisseton, South Dakota.
He was a member of Henning-Shemanski Post 267 American Legion of Grenville. The couple spent many hours volunteering at the local animal shelters in Red Wing and Grand Junction.
Kenneth passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Sisseton, South Dakota at the age of 81.
Survivors include two brothers, Orville “Bud” (Barb) Dahling of Siren, WI and Richard (Julie) Dahling of Frederic, WI; and one sister, Caroline (Norbert) Kearns of Barnes, WI.

Dorothy Henning was born on March 12, 1934 near Grenville, South Dakota to Conrad and Valeria (Block) Henning. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grenville. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school through the eighth grade. At the age of seventeen she moved to Red Wing, Minnesota where she worked in a grocery store.
On September 18, 1954 she was united in marriage to Kermith Dahling at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grenville, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home in Red Wing until Kermith entered the service. After his discharge the couple returned to Red Wing where she worked for Josten Manufacturing until her retirement. In 1995 the couple moved to Grand Junction, Colorado.
The couple spent many hours volunteering at the local animal shelters in Red Wing and Grand Junction. Dorothy was a Minnesota Twins fan. She also organized monthly neighborhood birthday celebrations while living in Grand Junction.
Dorothy passed away on at her home in Grand Junction, Colorado on October 8, 2010 at the age of 76.
Survivors include two sisters, Eleanor Anderson of Portland, OR and Theresa Herrick of Webster, SD; and one brother, John Henning of Waubay, SD.
