Judy Starz, 73 of Enemy Swim Lake died on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at her home.
Judy Joy Haslam was born on Friday, September 8, 1939 to James “Bud” and Gladys Lorraine (Mulroy) Haslam in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She grew up in Sioux Falls and graduated from Washington High School in 1957.
On February 12, 1959 she was united in marriage to E. Waldo Starz. After their marriage the couple made their home in Sioux Falls. She was an outstanding, understanding mother and housewife. After raising her children, at the age of 40, Judy was very proud of her second biggest accomplishment which was receiving her Licensed Practical Nursing degree. She worked in long term care nursing for over 30 years and loved taking care of the elderly and thanked God each day for that blessing. In 2000 she moved to her family home on Enemy Swim Lake. She retired from her nursing career in 2007.
Judy loved crocheting, knitting and needlework. And living by the lake she loved to go fishing.
Judy passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at her home on Enemy Swim Lake at the age of 73 years, 9 months and 3 days.
She is survived by her children, Julie Starz-Huso of Sioux Falls, SD, Edward Wayne (Conchita) Starz of Twentynine Palms, CA and Terry Todd (Ruth) Starz of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Bryant (Jennifer) Huso of Tolna, ND, Elizabeth Huso of Sioux Falls, SD and Brent Huso McVille, ND (currently the Republic of GA); great grandchildren, Sawyer, Lydia Huso and Cole Steen; step grandchildren, Shawna Baumann and Tracy Alexander; and a brother, James E. Haslam, Jr. of Waubay, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents and her aunt, Violet Kelly.
