Joyce Strand

Joyce Strand, 74 of Langford, wife of Kenneth Strand, died on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Strand-Kjorsvig Community Rest Home in Roslyn. Graveside services will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday, November 7, 2011 at Fron Lutheran Cemetery near Roslyn. Janet Johnson will officiate. Joyce Ardell Holler was born on Sunday, August 8, 1937 to Marcus and Esther (Krueger) Holler at Aberdeen, South Dakota. The family lived near Aberdeen and as a small child they moved to a farm near Park Rapids, Minnesota. In 1944 the family moved to a farm near Pierpont where she attended country school. They moved near Ft. Sisseton in 1949 where she continued country school and graduated from Langford High School in 1956. On January 5, 1955 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Strand at her parents home. After she finished high school they lived near Britton. In 1959 they moved to Minneapolis and in 1977 they moved to Keller, Texas where they resided for 29 years. They retired and returned to Langford in 2006. She was a member of Fron Lutheran Church near Roslyn. She loved her little dogs, Precious and Gina and enjoyed playing cards. Joyce passed away on Thursday, November 03, 2011 at Roslyn, South Dakota at the age of 74 years, 2 months and 26 days. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth of Langford; one daughter, Peggy Jo Strand of Webster, SD; one brother, Kenny Holler of Hutchinson, MN; two sisters, Janice (Ronald) Eikanas of Mound, MN and Barb (Russ) Huber of Elmore, MN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Kevin and Kyle and one sister, Beverly Chamberlin.
