Joyce Ewalt 78 of Bristol and formerly of Webster passed away Tuesday December 24, 2019 at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday *** January 4, 2020*** at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-7 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
Joyce was born July 2, 1942 to Alvin and Flora (Herr) Cavanaugh in Holmquist, South Dakota. She was the last remaining child and the youngest daughter of seven children.
On March 1, 1958 she was united in marriage to Joseph (Joe) Ewalt in Watertown, South Dakota. They made their home in Webster and became the parents of Joseph Ewalt Jr (Little Joe) and many years later the proud grandparents of Shane Ewalt.
Joyce spent most of her life working in retail stores. Many can still remember her smiling, friendly face as far back as being a cashier at the Red Owl Store and Willie's Super Valu on Main Street to her last job at the Blossom Shoppe. She had the rare talent of making an impression in so many hearts and was always there to listen and care for those who needed her. She will be missed by so many of her loving family and friends.
Joyce was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She loved doing crafts from making dolls to lawn ornaments. She loved being a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
She is survived by her son, Joe (Patty) Ewalt of Waubay SD, her grandson Shane (Stephanie) Ewalt of Chandler, AZ, sisters-in-law Irene Cavanaugh of Webster, SD, Joan Burns of Lakeville, MN, and Mary Aadson of Webster, SD, brothers-in-law; Lec (Bev) Ewalt and John (Gloria) Ewalt both of Webster, SD many nieces, nephews and family who will miss her dearly.
Joyce was preceded in death and now joins her husband, Joseph Ewalt Sr., her parents, two brothers, Berdell and Alan Cavanaugh and sisters, Jeanette (Leonard) Lutz, Fern (Gerald) Rick, Patty (Lavern) Schulz and baby sister Darlene Cavanaugh as well as brothers-in-law, Bruce Burns and Donald Aadson.
