ROSLYN- Joseph Rumpza, 79 of Roslyn died on Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at Bethesda Home in Webster. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, October 29, 2005 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grenville with Fr. Thomas Podimattam officiating. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Friday 1-4 P.M. then continuing at the church at 6 P.M. with a 7 P.M. Scriptural Prayer service. Joseph Frank Rumpza was born on Wednesday, March 17, 1926 to Leo and Anastacia (Kwasniewski) Rumpza on the family farm in Raritan Township, Day County, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grenville. He attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Grenville for a year and then attended the Roslyn School System. He entered the U.S. Army and served during World War II, stationed in the Philippines. After his honorable discharge he returned to the family farm near Roslyn. He farmed with his parents and later began farming on his own. On October 20, 1962 he married Caroline Miotke at Grenville. After their marriage the couple made their home on the Rumpza family farm. He farmed until 1984 when he retired and sold most of the farm. The couple then continued to reside in the farm home which they did not sell. Survivors include his wife, Caroline of Roslyn; two daughters, Susan (DuWayne) Block of Taylors Falls, MN and Linda Rumpza-Clark of Omaha, NE; one brother, Leonard (Dorothy) Rumpza of Waterloo, NE; three sisters, Val Janish of Eden, SD, Leona Hojnacke of Webster, SD and Dorothy Hamman of Belt, MT; three step grandchildren and eight step greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Stanley.
