Jon Shultis, 68 of Webster died on Monday, July 21, 2014 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Westside Wesleyan Church in Bristol, Pastor Lynn Lutz, Pastor Bob McHenry and Pastor Matt Pribyl will officiate.
The family will be present at the funeral home on Friday 5-7 P.M. with a 7 P.M. Prayer Service.
Jon Kent Shultis was born on Tuesday, April 2, 1946 in Reedsburg, WI to Richard and Gayno (Lawrence) Shultis. He grew up on their dairy farm, graduated high school in Reedsburg and studied auto mechanics and diesel at Madison Area Tech.
On December 22, 1968 he married Carolyn Cussons, during a blizzard, in Webster, South Dakota. To this union were born a daughter, Kymberly Rhea Shultis Jones, and a son, Sean Christopher Glazier Shultis.
Jon co-owned a Texaco station in Reedsburg with his brother Jeri, and then moved to SD; teaching auto classes at Lake Region Vocational Center until the school closed in Webster in 2006. He dearly loved his students and his bus kids, having taught and driven school bus for over 30 years. He retired from driving school bus in 2014.
He was an active member of Westside Wesleyan Church in Bristol where he served on the Church Board.His great joy was spending time with family, friends and his dearly loved dog, Samson. His hobbies included serving His Lord, hunting deer and prairie dogs, studying vintage items and their histories, and cheering on his Green Bay Packers.
Jon went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 21, 2014 from Sioux Falls SD at the age of 68 years, 3 months and 19 days, surrounded by his beloved family.
Jon is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his children, Kymberly (Arden) Jones of Huntington AR, and Sean (Pam) Shultis of Goodwin SD; his siblings, Jeri (Molly) Shultis of Mauston WI, Jyll Shultis of Melbourne FL; his father-in-law, Clayton Cussons of Estelline SD; his brother and sisters-in-law, Jackson (Susan) Cussons of Minneapolis MN, Cathy (Rick) Martin of Irving TX, and Julie (Mike) Sarrett of Goodlettsville TN; 10 grandchildren, Garret, Eden and Darby Jones, Gavan Shultis, Donielle (Greg) Archer, Chad (Kim) Rohde and Lindsey (Tanner Johnson) Rohde; 7 great-grandchildren, Zachary and Hayden Burell, Lyndsey and Katie Archer, Madysen, Kayde and Chase Rohde; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
