WEBSTER - John Wickre 65 of Webster passed away Wednesday February 6, 2019 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday February 12, 2019 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster, Rev. Mike DeKraai will officiate. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery.

John Richard Wickre was born on June 3, 1953 to Harold and Magnhild (Anderson) Wickre in Webster, SD. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster, SD. He attended Webster High School.
On August 9, 1980, he married Jennifer Anderson at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol, SD. They made their home in Webster, SD and were blessed with two wonderful children, Derek and Jenilee. John worked for Batie, Inc. and Day County Soil Conservation until 1990 at which point he bought a radiator repair shop in Sisseton, SD. He drove back and forth from Webster to Sisseton on a daily basis to run his business for 26 years until finally retiring in 2016. After retiring from the radiator business, he worked a few days a week at Pickerel Lake State Park during the camping season.
John’s lifelong passions were gardening, hunting and fishing, attending concerts and being around his children and grandchildren. He loved playing games with his granddaughters, especially matching and candy land, many times coming up on the losing end. His grandsons especially enjoyed the morning trips to the donut shop during sleepovers, driving the Jeep and going fishing. Jazz Fest in Sioux Falls had been his favorite concert event for the past ten plus years rarely missing a year.
John will be forever loved and greatly missed by his wife Jenni of 38 years; son Derek (Katy) Wickre of Bristol, SD; daughter Jenilee Wickre (Andy Anderson) of Sioux Falls, SD and four grandchildren: Tucker and Turner Wickre and Willow and Whitney Anderson; brother Harlan (Earlene) Wickre, Rochester, MN; twin brother Gene Wickre, Denver, CO; three sisters-in-law Suzanne (Walt) Gregory, Maple Grove, MN; Kathy (Drew) Baumbach, Shoreview, MN; Mary Aadson (Pete Bembers), Sioux Falls, SD; two brothers-in-law Mark (Lisa) Anderson and Jon (Robin) Anderson, both of Bristol, SD; and many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Magnhild Wickre, infant sister Judith Wickre, mother-in-law Patricia Anderson, sister-in-law Gail Fellbaum, brother-in-law Gene Fellbaum, and niece Kathryn Fellbaum.
