John Hatle, 93, of Starbuck, Minnesota, and formerly of Webster, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024 at a care center in Starbuck.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Fiksdal Funeral Service. Military interment will be at the Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
John Edward Hatle was born on October 25, 1930 to John and Ida (Nerison) Hatle at Peever, South Dakota. He attended school in Waubay and Webster. After his education, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to South Dakota.
On December 3, 1954, he married Angeline Houde at St. John's Lutheran Church in Webster. To this union two children were born, Roberta and Timothy. The couple made their home in Webster for a short time and then relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota. John worked as an auto mechanic until his retirement in 1991 when the couple returned to Webster. Angeline passed away in 2008. John continued to live in Webster until moving to Starbuck, Minnesota to be near his daughter. John enjoyed gardening, drinking coffee, visiting with friends and family and mowing lawn.
He will be forever, loved and greatly missed by his daughter Roberta Helmbrecht of Benson, MN, son Timothy (Becky) Hatle of Princeton, MN, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and six great, great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Linda Clutter of Florence, SD, and Shirley (Harold) Mack of Watertown, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Angeline, and one brother Raymond Hatle.
