John Cavanee, Jr.

John Cavanee,67, of Waubay, SD passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen, SD. Public Funeral Service will be Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 10:30 A.M. at Fiksdal Funeral Service. Funeral Service will be livestreamed on Fiksdal Funeral Service Facebook page. Family respectfully requests masks be worn and all in attendance abide by social distancing guidelines. Walk through visitation will be 1 hour before the funeral service. John Wilson Cavanee, Jr., aged 67 passed away suddenly on November 20, 2020 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen, SD. He was born on April 3, 1953 to John Sr. and Gail Gaine “Glenn” Cavanee. He was born in Susanville, CA. An only child he lived in Susanville, CA where he attended and graduated high school. John was born prematurely weighing 1 lb. 11oz. After high school John moved to Las Vegas, NV where he worked as a custodian for the YMCA and then as a handyman for Walmart. While living in Nevada John trained hunting dogs. He especially enjoyed working with Springer Spaniels. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing and hunting with his uncles. He retired and moved to Waubay, SD in 2010. Though retired John enjoyed doing odd jobs around the Waubay, SD area. John also helped with a local missionary group through his church. John is survived by his uncle Jim Turner of Las Vegas, NV, cousin Fred Amen of Platteville, CO and many additional cousins located in California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, and Arizona. John is preceded in death by both his parents, grandparents, several aunts and uncles. John was a kindhearted generous man of faith and was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 - - “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forging one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ”.
