Joe Ewalt, Sr., 75 of Webster died on Friday, December 23, 2011 at Bethesda Home in Webster.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster, Burial will be at Webster Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Monday 2-4 P.M. then continuing at the church until 8 P.M. with a 7 P.M. Rosary.
Joseph Andrew Ewalt was born on Wednesday, October 14, 1936 to Florian and Hattie (Hojnacke) Ewalt at Lily, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Lily. He attended elementary school and high school in Lily. In 1953 the family moved to Webster where Joe began working at Best Motors as an auto bodyman.
On March 1, 1958 he was united in marriage to Joyce Cavanaugh at Watertown, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home in Webster. Joe continued to work for Best Motors for 40 years until it closed in 1993. He then worked for Porter Auto and for the last ten years he has worked full and part-time for Daves Marine. He entered Bethesda Home in Webster in August 2011.
He was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church. He loved hunting and fishing with his son, family and friends. His passion for automobiles (especially Fords) whether it was driving or fixing them was unprecedented. You could always find him polishing his 50 Ford and driving his loyal pal, Gizmo around town or Lily.
Joe passed away on Friday, December 23, 2011 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 75 years, 2 months and 9 days.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; one son, Joe (Patty) Ewalt of Minnetrista, MN; two brothers, Sylvester (Beverly) Ewalt and John (Gloria) Ewalt both of Webster, SD; two sisters, Mary Aadson of Webster, SD and JoAnn (Bruce) Burns of Lakeville, MN; and one grandson, Shane Ewalt. He was preceded in death by his parents.
