Joan Steffes,79 of Bristol died on Monday, October 9, 2017 at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster. Burial will be at Bristol Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Friday 5-7 P.M. ending with a scriptural prayer service. Fiksdalfuneral.com. Joan Marie Morehouse was born on July 31, 1938 to Lloyd and Lillian (Stolsmark) Morehouse on the family farm northwest of Bristol. She attended country school near her home and graduated from Bristol high School in 1956. While in high school she worked at a local café and then after high school worked at the National Bank in Bristol. On November 17, 1958 she was united in marriage to Gene Steffes in Bristol. After their marriage the couple made their home in Bristol. The couple operated a gravel business for many years. In 2004 they both retired from operating the gravel business. Gene passed away in March 2013. After his death she lived on her own until she entered Sun Dial Manor in Bristol in May 2017. She enjoyed gardening, reading, playing cards, crocheting and baking. She also enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Survivors include three brothers, Donald (Julie) Morehouse of Bodfish, CA, Lyle (Lynn) Morehouse of Spokane, WA and Gary (Wanda) Morehouse of Aberdeen, SD; four sisters, Marialice (Richard) Arndt of Duluth, MN, Marlys (Keith) Enstad of Watertown, SD, Marlene (LeRoy) Nelson of Langford, SD and Marcia (Alvin) Sayne of North Pole, AK; brothers-in-law, Jerry Bonn of Conde, SD, Craig (Diane) Steffes of Spearfish, SD and Keith Steffes of Sioux Falls, SD; sisters-in-law, Fran Morehouse of Bristol, SD and Audrey Morehouse of Boyce, LA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Lowell and Roger, two sisters, Beverly Bonn and Janice Kroll and one infant sister.
