Jerry Richardt, 75 of Webster died October 2, 2014 at a Webster Hospital.
His funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 6, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster. Burial with military rites will be in Webster Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to St. John’s Lutheran Sunday School.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday 5-7 P.M. and prior to services on Monday. .
Jerry Clarence Richardt was born on Tuesday, November 29, 1938 to Clarence and Helen (Swanson) Richardt at Sisseton, South Dakota. The family lived on a farm in Roberts County north of Ortley where he grew up. He was baptized and later confirmed at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waubay. He attended country school in Alto Township near his home. . He joined the South Dakota National Guard before he graduated from high school. He graduated from Waubay High School in 1957 and attended Northern State Teacher’s College in Aberdeen where he received his teaching certificate. He taught country school in the area for two years.
He was united in marriage to Carol Peterson on August 20, 1961 at Webster, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home in Webster. Jerry became full time technician with the South Dakota National Guard. He entered the Warrant Officer Academy and became Chief Warrant Officer 3, a rank he retired with in 1993. He then worked for Dakotah, Inc. and Esco Sign Company until his retirement in 2008.
Jerry was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster where he served on the Church Council and was Council President and a Sunday School Teacher. He served on the Webster City Council, he also was service to military families with the Red Cross and was a Hunter Safety Course Instructor through the Department of Game, Fish and Parks. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, camping, traveling and sight seeing. He especially enjoyed time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jerry passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 3 days.
Survivors include his wife, Carol of Webster; one son, Shawn (Heather Peiker) Richardt of Milbank, SD; two daughters, Sabra (Pat) McCarty of Mitchell, SD and Melissa (Chuck) Wilson of Aberdeen, SD; one sister, Norma Scheuring of South Shore, SD; a sister-in-law, Janice Letze of Milbank, SD; seven grandchildren, Cory Richardt, Tanya Allerdings, Rachel Richardt, Jonathan Tople, Robert Tople, Eliana Richardt and Ethan Richardt; and three great grandchildren, Briley Richardt, Taylah Allerdings and Tenley Allerdings. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild, Adam Richardt.
