WEBSTER- Jerome Donahue, 87 of Webster died on Sunday, August 26, 2007 at his home in Webster. Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 31, 2007 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster, Rev. William Olsen will officiate. Private inurnment will be at a later date. Fiksdal Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements. Fiksdalfuneral.com. Jerome Duane Donahue was born on Monday, September 22, 1919 at Bristol, South Dakota. He was baptized at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bristol. He attended elementary school and then was stationed in the Black Hills with the Civilian Conservation Corps. After he returned from the Black Hills he worked at the Bakery in Bristol and in the late 1930’s moved to Webster where he worked in bakery. On February 24, 1945 he married Evelyn Stee at Our Savior’s Parsonage in Waubay. After their marriage the couple continued living in Webster and owned the bakery for a short time. In 1948 the couple purchased the Deep Rock Station and Café on U.S. Highway 12 and operated the business for ten years. Then he purchased the graveling business from Clarence Gokey and operated it as owner for many years, and then drove truck for the new owner of the business until he retired in the early 1980’s. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster where he was active in church activities including ushering and helping in the work groups. He loved being at home and taking care of the yard and other projects. Jerome passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2007 at his home in Webster, South Dakota at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 4 days. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of Webster; one daughter, Kathy (Robert) Hallstrom of Apollo, PA; one brother, James Donahue of Poway, CA; one sister, Mary Upton of Tucson, AZ and three grandchildren, Christopher, Samual and Amy all of Pittsburg, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Charles, Edward, Densel, Patrick, Donnel and Jack; two sisters, Peg and Pat; and a grandson, Joseph Charles.
